Founded in 1986, FreqLab Studio has been the home for musicians, sound designers, and producers seeking something deeper than just “good enough.”
From analog warmth to digital precision, we offer a space where your creative vision is fully realized—every frequency, every note, every detail.
About Us
Past
After extensive preparation, Black Record Covenant opened its doors in the summer of 2023 as a professional recording studio and hourly rehearsal space in the heart of Budapest.
The studio was founded by Péter Cséplő, who launched the project with nearly 20 years of musical experience behind him. He has been actively involved in competitive beatboxing for more than 15 years, performed both as a solo artist and as a frontman in bands, and graduated from the imPro School music producer program in 2019.
Since 2020, he has been working professionally as a music producer, covering songwriting, beatmaking, vocal recording, and ghost production. Alongside developing himself as a musician, he closely observed the state of rehearsal spaces in Budapest, identified what was missing, and designed something better based on those experiences — this vision eventually became Black Record Covenant.
Present
Beyond professional audio equipment, we believe it is essential that the studio remains clean, comfortable, and available even during late-night hours. Our goal is to provide musicians with a truly inspiring and enjoyable experience.
Since opening, countless artists have worked with us: demos, EPs, narration recordings, instrumental sessions, choir recordings, and full albums across multiple genres have all been created within our walls.
Our rehearsal rooms have also hosted preparations for major performances, including concerts at Budapest Park and arena shows by artists such as Tóth Andi, LL Junior’s band, and Bari Laci.
One of our greatest sources of pride is the number of returning guests we welcome both in the studio and rehearsal rooms. Some musicians come here to teach drums, others practice vocals alone, some simply come to jam freely — and many artists return to the studio as friends.
Black Record Covenant Community
Future
In the near future, we plan to expand with additional rehearsal rooms and continue developing the studio further.
Our regular members form “The Covenant” community group, and this summer we will host our very first community songwriting camp.
Everything described above is genuine — no marketing gimmicks or exaggerated promises. If you are looking for a calm, professional environment to rehearse, or if you would like to experience studio work for yourself, our doors are open day and night.
Whether you want to take the next step in your musical career, join the ranks of professionals, or simply express something you cannot at home, feel free to reach out to us.
Book a session and become part of our community.
